Pinterest Project Review

If you follow me on Pinterest, you are familiar with my ‘Pins I’ve Tried‘ board.  This is where I normally put all the crafts, projects, recipes and ideas I’ve tried – hence the board title.  I always add a few notes about my experience for the next potential pinner.  But today, I’m stepping out a little and doing a full-on Pinterest project review, which I hope to start including regularly in the blog. Today, I’m talking about an Continue Reading

Odor Guard in the Water Closet

Well, it seems I just cannot stay away from y’all! I’ve got another fun and super helpful tip for you from the Farm … You know how when someone “goes to the bathroom” in your house and even though you might have air fresheners or sprays or incense or what-have-you in there, the stink just sort of … lingers? Yeah, me, too. It’s nothing to be embarrassed about, though. Everybody poops. But nobody wants anybody Continue Reading

Just a Note About Dirt

Okay, I know I said I was on a break with the blog, but I found something so exciting this past week that I just have to share. Where I live, the red dirt is a nightmare for white clothes.  It’s so hard to get out that I stopped even buying my family white clothing to wear years ago.  No white t-shirts except for pajama shirts.  No white socks.  No white pants.  And because this Continue Reading

Jesus vs. The Easter Bunny

Today is Good Friday, traditionally observed by Christians around the world as the end of Lent and the lead-in to Easter Sunday. Non-Christians celebrate Easter as a non-Christian holiday (although I wonder, seeing as Easter only exists because of Jesus Christ – what’s the deal with that?) complete with the big family gatherings, the egg hunts and everybody’s favorite Bunny. But there are many Christians who also incorporate these more … secular aspects of the Continue Reading

A Long Row to Hoe

At our place, it’s once again time to get the garden prepped and planted. Several years ago, we established a permanent garden spot, complete with raised beds that we built from reclaimed lumber and pallet boxes. We hauled in soil and fertilizer (read: manure from the corral), drew up detailed planting charts and diagrams and vowed that from that point on, our garden was going to produce enough to feed our growing family and provide Continue Reading

Looking Forward

The flu struck our house again a couple of weeks ago and we are still trying to recover. I’m not positive where we picked up the nasty bug since we, literally, never leave the farm. But it doesn’t really matter – it’s put us very far behind on our farm tasks and spring projects. So far behind, in fact, that any hope of a family vacation (our first ever since the six year old was Continue Reading

Home Remedies, Essential Oils and the Occult

Okay, I don’t have much interest in the occult. But I am totally into home remedies and essential oils. Especially the ones that work. They could very well be the only reason I’m still alive to write this post today. Really. The past couple weeks have been a little rough around the Keep. One child got sick, then the hubby got sick and it has just slowly overtaken each of the remaining members of the Continue Reading
